Catherine E. Pugh is President of C E Pugh and Company marketing and communications firm and a member of the House of Delegates serving the 40th District of Baltimore in the Maryland General Assembly.

Catherine Pugh is a former elected member of the Baltimore City Council where she served for five years.

She holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Morgan State University and has received qualification from the University of California as an Economic Development Specialist.

Catherine Pugh has been a banker, Vice President of a Communication’s Company running nine radio stations and building television stations, Director of the City’s Crime Prevention Program, business developer, television news reporter and talk show host, Dean and Director of a Strayer Business College, newspaper owner and an independent editor for the Baltimore Sun.

Catherine Pugh is also founder and honorary Chair of the Baltimore Marathon and the Need-to-Read Campaign.  During her term as a city council person she raised over a million dollars for the Baltimore City Schools and local community charities through her many projects including the FISH-OUT-OF-WATER and started the Baltimore Marathon that has an annual impact of 8.4 million dollars on the city and provides thousands of dollars for local charities.

She has received numerous awards for her contributions and commitment to the business and Baltimore community including the United States Small Business Administration Minority Business Advocate of the Year Award, Baltimore Best New City Councilperson Award, Baltimore City Fraternal Order of Police Legislator of the Year Award, NAACP Benjamin L. Hooks Keeper of the Flame Award, Zeta Phi Beta Woman of the Year In Communications Award and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Notable Black Women of Maryland Award, and in 2005 Catherine Pugh was named One of the Top 100 Women of Maryland.

Catherine Pugh serves on several Boards including Associated Black Chairs where she chairs the Development Committee and is committed to raising $100 million for their capital campaign, the University of Maryland Medical Systems, Baltimore Reads, Total Health Care, Maryland Preakness Celebration, Hampden Family Center, and the Contemporary Museum.  She is President and Chairman of the Board of the Maryland Center of Arts and Technology where she helps to raise million of dollars for adult training.
